Thank You!

This weekend I have been hanging out with my friend and SU Demo, Donna, and we’ve been having fun playing in her craft room! I’ve been pawing through all her leftover scraps and making a few cute things that I’ll share all week.  This morning I made this card for the current OWH sketch challenge, #161.  And since I think this card has a clear, strong focal point, I’m also considering it my homework for the OWH design bootcamp! Sketches are a great way to find a focal point if that is something you struggle with.

About this card:  The flower and branch are from the SU! Secret Garden stamp set, the flower is stamped on the SU! Flirtatious design series paper and cut out, then I accented a little with SU! markers in Daffodil Delight and Garden Green. The branch is stamped in Garden Green ink on a scrap of SU Lovely Flowers designer paper.  The green floral background paper is from the SU! Beyond the Garden design series. The dies used are the SU! Labels framelits dies.  The green cardstock is SU! Garden Green.  The sentiment is a non-SU rub on and is die cut with the SU! Bitty Banners framelit die.

This is beautiful Julie and you are so right about sketches being a great tool for helping to design a card with a strong focal point. Once you identify a sketch with an obvious focal point and have it to refer to it’s hard to go wrong. :)

Everything matche so well, it’s hard to believe you pulled it all together with scraps! Nice job!

Julie your card is absolutely gorgeous, and yes I think it has a very strong focal point! Love that focal piece and how you stamped the single flower right on the dot DSP. The large solid green mat really makes this piece stand out. The popped flower and sentiment really adds dimension too. Oh yeah, love everything about it… thanks for playing!!

    Julie,

What a pretty card! I really like that you stamped on patterned paper — and love the popped flower. TFS!
